Cast Your Crumbs

 Cast your crumbs to one and all-

these pigeons miss not one that falls.

they covet every crust of bread;

acolytes who bow and scrape

worship blood stained lips of red

no, never leave your tired page

Repetitious wisdom sage;

they sell their souls

to win your grace.

Prurient sallow in your sleep,

forgotten, aging in your sheets;

filled with languid arrogance-

vagrant stifled smoking style,

silly reverence, sacred tease-

the meaning vague

but aimed to please-

they gladly chase

and solemn stoke

the dusty ashes

cold and dry

the Dying coals.

these slaves that cling

serve just one Master.

Shadowed model,

posed cadaver,

rusted shattered mythic mirror;

Petals, thorns and hungry peers-

Drooping stems in empty vase

Chained to earth

But lost in space.

Colorless this withered rose,

no anaphoric blooming prose.
